Seeking New Life
For at least the last 10 or more years, dating has been the last thing on my mind. I’d like to say that I’ve been busy, but it would be more accurate to say that the necessities of life have taken over and I’ve focused primarily on those. I’ve had little to no interest at all in meeting a woman. I’m tired of putting myself on the backburner, and I’ve decided to take the leap back into dating. I’m sure that I’ll be very rusty, but I do genuinely like meeting new people. When I say I like meeting new people, it’s somewhat contradicts what I’ve actually been doing. In all honesty, I have been actively avoiding people and going out. I’ve suffered with anxiety in the past and I’ve also had a poor image of myself as a person. I’m not a joiner, or someone who makes conversation with another person in a bar etc. which is a shame, since I’m a very good conversationalist; and in general people tend to warm to me quickly. But I’m hoping to put all this behind me. I’m 50 now, and my kids are all practically grown up and moving on with their lives. Time for me to do something about mine! I am kind, generous and thoughtful. I work full time as a writer and SEO consultant for a variety of different industries. This allows me to manage my own time and work when it suits me. I can also work wherever I want to within reason. I am reasonably fit and of average build, standing at 6’ 4. I am self-sufficient, with a healthy income relative to my location. I currently rent my house, and I’ve been here for a number of years now. It has a nice little garden, and I’m trying to grow my own vegetables and flowers; I find this very satisfying. I wouldn’t mind finding a smaller house someone a little more remote in the future, once my youngest teenage daughter moves on with her life. I struggle sometimes to fill my spare time, and I am prone to procrastination if I’m honest. This is a shame because I have many interests. As I mentioned, I like gardening, I like to play strategy games on my PC, I like listening to my vinyl records, and I’m hoping to update my audio equipment soon. I’m trying to write songs with a home studio, I have a stage piano that I’m trying to get better on, and I like to noodle around on my guitars too. I have a good singing voice and was once a semi professional singer when I lived in the South of the UK. I’m not sure whether I would like to perform again on stage, but I haven’t ruled it out completely. I’m not a big traveller, but I would love to do more of it with the right person. I have travelled alone in the past and it’s just not as enjoyable, and it’s somewhat nerve-wracking. I haven’t been anywhere out of the country much since I got my dog, mainly because I worry about him and would want him to be looked after properly. I’m not a pushy guy, at the moment I’m just reaching out.
